Quake jolts eastern India

New Delhi, April 14: A major earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale Wednesday hit areas around the Indo-Myanmar border and its tremors were felt in the northeast, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Megalaya and other parts of the country.

According to National Centre of Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at 7:26 PM at the depth of 134 km.

In Odisha the tremor was felt in State capital Bhubaneswar, silver city Cuttack, Port city Paradip Balasore, Kendrapara and some other places.

There were no immediate reports of damage to property and life.
