Operation Muskan-II; 25 children rescued from Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4; As a part of the operation Muskan-II, 25 children in the age group 12-17 years have been rescued from different parts of Kandhamal district on Wednesday. Apart from this, 26 children including nine girls have also been rescued from Nayagarh.

17 children from Phulbani town, 5 from Baliguda and 3 from Raikia, have been rescued during a raid conducted by a team of police officials, child protection officer and activists of Childline at different garages, hotels and business establishments, informed Gouri Shankar Dash, DSP of Human Rights Protection Cell, Kandhamal.

According to the information, the children who had been rescued from Raikia, are all identified as abandoned ones. After their medical test, the children would be produced before the district child welfare committee, informed Rasmita Karan, District Child Welfare Officer (DCWO).

Notably, to trace and rescue the missing children, operation Muskan-II had been initiated by the Police on July 25.

The raids would continue to rescue the children in the district. To rescue children working outside, a team has been formed, informed DSP (HRPC). However, the States which the team would visit has not yet been disclosed.
