Jagannath Mallick passes away at the age of 80

Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: Last night on Sunday the former minister and litterateur Jagannath Mallick at the age of 80 took his last breath after fighting from an extremely elongated illness at a private hospital here.

He was born at Mahantypatana in Jajpur district. In his entire political career he had the privilege to be elected to the State Assembly for four times and to the Parliament for once. His first stand in the Assembly was in 1971 on Utkal Congress ticket and was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999. He held the Agricultural Portfolio in 1979.

Besides, this renowned politician had also been a remarkable writer and some of his works are Kaibarta Kanya, Jarasandha, Bhabitabya, Ramayan Darshan, Matira Mruttika and Jhadar Eagle.
