Kandhamal, Aug 31: A similar scene like that of Dana Majhi which flagged off all corners of the world was witnessed in Kandhamal district, when a person carried the corpse of his 2-year old daughter and walked 5 km from Tumudibandha hospital to his village as he did not get any hearse by the hospital.
It’s stated that Amikant Majhi with his wife Mamata belonging to Matrugaon had taken their daughter to Tumudibandha hospital yesterday when their daughter’s health condition started to deteriorate. The doctor on charge, Dr. Jyoti Prakash Biswal had intimidated the couple to take their daughter to Baliguda hospital for proper treatment. As Amikant had no money with him, he was asked to go back to his house and get the smart card. Thus, he left his daughter and wife at the hospital and went back to his village, which was located 5 km away from the health center. Meanwhile, the child was given an injection following which she died just after a couple of minutes.
On covering 10km, the father reached the hospital and found his daughter no more which made him shattered and heartbroken. As the hospital authorities did not pay any heed to provide an ambulance to him, he had to carry the body on his shoulders.
