Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: A similar incident to that of Mili Pradhan was reported from the Kakarudrapur village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, where a woman named Roji Pardia was burnt by her husband and in-laws from neck to toe in front of her one-year-old daughter six months back.
It’s stated that the husband, Pinku Pradhan whom Roji had married, being in love with him, poured piping hot rice water and acid on her for dowry. Pinku hails from Banarapala of Angul district. With the help of some of her neighbours, Roji was taking treatment at the Kulei hospital. When no attendant turned up to take care of Roji in the hospital, the victim went to her paternal house at Kakarudrapur. Later, some social activists shifted the victim to the Capital Hospital here for treatment. As necessary operation facility is not available at the hospital here, she was referred to be shifted to the SCB hospital in Cuttack.
In the meantime the State Women’s Commission member, Snehanjali Mohanty said that immediate action will be initiated once Roji starts to recover.
