Phulbani, Sept 24: The police held a person identified as Pilat Baliarsingh on Friday for allegedly raping and killing a woman at Mahabelu Ghat in Kandhamal district.
Reportedly, on September 19, the accused raped and later killed the woman when she was passing through the Ghat alone. Besides, after killing the woman, Baliarsingh also looted her ornaments.
The Baliguda police registered the case after a complaint was filed in this regard and caught hold of the accused three days after the incident.
