Security beefed up in Malkangiri in view of PLGA week

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: Security has been beefed up in the South Odisha district of Malkangiri to foil violent activities of the Maoists who have called for ‘People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Week’ to pay homage to their martyrs killed during encounter with the police and Central forces.

Government bus services have been stopped in the district. However, some private buses are seen plying in the town area.

The Maoists who observe PLGA week in the memory of the red rebels killed in police encounters, have put up posters in the bordering areas of the district asking the locals to observe the PLGA week.

The district police have stepped up joint combing operations with the SOG, DVF and BSF.  Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said the district police is on high alert and combing operations are underway in all sensitive areas along the border.
