On Wednesday, Hardeep Singh Puri (Union Minister of Civil Aviation) waved green flag to a project for establishing international airport at Puri city. And the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has been asked to carry out the pre-feasibility study on the concerned land.
In answer to the question raised by Sujit Kumar (member of rajya sabha). Puri said,” Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik had urged (through a written letter) to develop an international airport at a land (near Puri) which was identified by the state government and to name it after Lord Jagannath.
Further, a meeting was held on 12 January, including Civil Aviation Secretary, Officials of Odisha government, AAI and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). After which he responsibility to conduct a pre-feasibilty study was handed to AAI.
