Ashwin spins india into advantage on Day 2 to cricket test

Mohali, Nov 6 off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scalped five South Africa wickets to give India a slender first innings lead before the batsmen consolidated the position with a much-improved display in the second innings against the Proteas on second day of the first cricket Test here today.

     Ashwin captured five wickets for 51 runs.

India were 125 for two at stumps with Cheteshwar Pujara (63) and Virat Kohli (11) at the crease in the second innings.

India now have stretched the lead to 142 runs.

     The second-wicket pair of Murali Vijay (47) and Pujara, which played sensible cricket with a 86-run stand after Shikhar Dhawan (0) lost his wicket second time in a row without runs.
