Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Sprinting sensation Dutee Chand will receive the prestigious ‘Ekalabya Puraskar’ for 2015 at a special function here today evening. The award, instituted by Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT), the charity wing of IMFA, carries a cash award of Rs 5 lakh and a bronze citation.
Chess queen Saina Salonika and weightlifter Pramila Kirsani – will also be felicitated with cash award of Rs 50, 000 and a citation each.
Sports Minister Sudam Marandi will be the chief guest at the award ceremony while the Secretary of Women and Child Development department Vishal Dev will be the guest of honour on the occasion. Kendrapara MP and Trustee of Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT) Baijayant Panda will also be present on the occasion.
Among the winners of this prestigious award are former captain of the Indian hockey team Dillip Tirkey, International cricketer Debashish Mohanty, star athlete Anuradha Biswal, weightlifter K Ravi Kumar, international chess player Padmini Rout and ace shooter Shreyanka Sarangi. IMPaCT has been playing a pioneering role in attracting and encouraging the youth in the state to take to sports and excel in it.
Apart from sports, IMPaCT has also being promoting Literature, Culture & Social activities in the State.
