Indian Athletes Bring Pride Back Home: Another Bronze For India at Tokyo Paralympic

New Delhi, August 31: On the seventh day of the Paralympic day, India started off quite well. India’s 39-year-old shooter, Singhraj Adhana won the bronze medal for India in the final of the 10m Air Pistol SH1. Adhana finished third with a score of 216.8. China’s Yang Chao managed to win the gold with 237.9 points, while China’s He Hong Jing got the silver medal.

On the other hand, 18-year-old Manish Narwal who had topped the qualification, could not recover from a slow start in the final and finished 7th. Manish disappointed everyone in the elimination round and was eliminated with 135.8 points.

In another story, at the start of the seventh day, Rubina Francis made it to the final in the women’s 10m air pistol SH1. Rubina played brilliantly in the qualification round and finished 7th with 560 points to reach the finals of P2 Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1.

With Singhraj’s Bronze, India’s medal tally in the Tokyo Paralympic Games now stands at 8. In which 2 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze are included.

Notably, Team India athletes have rocked the Tokyo Paralympics so far and have brought enough pride for the country. Earlier on Monday, shooter Avani Lekhara, & javelin thrower Sumit Antil have given India two gold medals. Sumit who won the gold medal in the F64 category, won the medal in the final with his best throw covering 68.55 metres and making a world record.

It has become India’s most successful Paralympics ever. Earlier, India had won 4-4 medals in 2016 Rio Olympics and 1984 Olympics each. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also congratulated all the athletes.

Congratulating Singhraj, PM Narendra Modi, wrote on his Twitter, “Exceptional performance by Singhraj Adhana! India’s talented shooter brings home the coveted Bronze Medal. He has worked tremendously hard and achieved remarkable successes. Congratulations to him and best wishes for the endeavors ahead.”
