Bhubaneswar: August 16: Hirakud Dam administration in Odisha decided to release more water from the reservoir by releasing 20 more gates in a bid to maintain the level at 620 feet.
As many as 20 gates of the dam were opened on Thursday night, said officials on Friday. Currently, the water level at the reservoir stands at 620.87 ft against storage capacity of 630 ft by 6.00 am on August 16, a day after opening 20 sluice gates to release excess floodwater.
The average inflow was nearly 1,51,550 Cusecs while the average outflow was 3,28,295 Cusecs, said officials.
