Cabinet decides to double the Fees of Advocate General:

Bhubaneswar, April 20 : Cabinet meeting held yesterday approved few proposals of the Law department. It decides for amendment of Rule 6(2) of the Odisha Superior Judicial Service and Odisha Judicial Service Rule, 2007 as per the recommendation of the Odisha High Court.

Now, the eligibility criteria for promotion of Senior Civil Judge to the rank of District Judge will be five years instead of three years. Also, it has been decided in state cabinet meeting held yesterday to enhance monthly retainer fee of Advocate General from Rupees 25000 to Rupees 50000.

Apart from this, the amount of fees for representing the state government in the Supreme Court has also been doubled from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000.

The Cabinet also approved enhancement of fees for other Law officers engaged in the Odisha High Court like the government advocates, additional government advocates, standing counsels and additional standing counsels.

With the new enhancement, the monthly retainer fee of the government advocates has been increased to Rs 16,500 from Rs 12,000 and daily fee from Rs 2000 to Rs 2700. For additional government advocates, the monthly retainer fee for government advocates has been increased to Rs 13,500 from Rs 10,000 and their daily fee from Rs 1600 to Rs 2200. The same is applicable for the standing counsels and additional standing counsels.
