Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: After the multi-crore chit fund company, Agri Gold got caught to have been duped investors over Rs 700 crore only in Odisha, in order to refund the amount to the duped investors around 70 agents of the company have decided to sell their kidneys. They have also made a written appeal to the Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET) on Friday.
This Agri Gold chit fund company had started its operation in Nov 1995. There were over hundred branches all over in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Odisha. In Odisha, there are around 20, 000 agents in 10 branches of the company where it has duped investors over Rs 700 cr.
While the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has put restriction on the operation of the company, the Andhra Pradesh CID is investigating into the scam.
As a result, the company agents are exposed to physical, mental and social torture, due to which they are willing to sell their kidneys to refund the affected investors.
