Kalrapat: Death of four elephants in 12 days in Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary

Bhubaneswar: February 13: In last 12 days, four female Elephants died in Kalahandi district’s Karlapat jungle. As said, one more elephant has fallen ill. It has raised concorn among all and a team of two experts arrived in Karlapat today to find out the reason.

The team will investigate the cause of death of the elephant and the circumstances under which it died. With this team, the Southern Forest Division DFO T. Ashok Kumar and Brahmananda Mohanty, Deputy Director, ARD,Kalahandi District also headed to the spot.

While the exact cause of death of the elephant is not known, the Forest Department estimates that hemorrhagic septicemia is the cause of death.

Post mortem of the dead elephants have been conducted and report is awaited.
