Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to be completed in 2023
Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is scheduled for completion by March 2023. The first phase of the highway from Delhi-Jaipur (Dausa)-Lalsot as well as Vadodara-Ankleshwar is likely to be open by March 2022.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari toured Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and reviewed the project’s progress recently.
Union Minister said, ‘The two-day aerial survey of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway has been completed. After thoroughly inspecting the highway, I am confident that the road will become an icon of New India and will open endless opportunities for millions of people’.
This 1380 kilometers eight-lane expressway is being constructed at a cost of Rs.98,000 crore and will reduce travel time between certain cities to 12-12.5 hours from 24 hours.
This Highway project was kick started in the year 2018 and the project’s foundation stone being laid on 9 March 2019.
The project is expected to improve connectivity to economic hubs of India like Jaipur, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Chittorgarh, Kota, Udaipur, Ujjain, Bhopal, Indore, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Surat.
Over 12 lakh tonnes of steel and 80 lakh tonnes of cement will be consumed in the construction of the project.
