Dhenkanal, Dec 8; A day after the rescue of critically injured rape victim from a forest near Dhenkanal, the accused has been arrested.
Identified as Sibashis Mohanty of Gandia area in the district, was the lover of the victim who was shifted to SCB medical today morning from Dhenkanal district HQ hospital for further treatment. During police interrogation Mohanty agreed that he had love affair with the woman. He also agreed to the allegations that he raped her and dumped her inside the forest and fled away.
Earlier on Monday evening the accused, raped the woman, thrashed her and dumped her to die in the forests near the Dhenkanal by pass road. On Wednesday, the woman was found lying in the forest by some locals who informed the police. The police reached the spot rescued her in critical condition and admitted her to the District headquarter hospital for treatment.
