Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: After BJD made allegations that advertisements of BJP’s Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojona and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was broadcasted on TV as a part of promotional strategies of the Party to gain public support, the State Election Commission on Saturday issued a ban on the broadcasting and publication of such type of advertisements on TV channels ahead of Panchayat elections. As the broadcasting of such ads would lead to the violation of the model code of conduct, the SEC asked the Union ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Drinking water and Sanitation to stop advertising these promotional schemes.

On the other side, based upon an allegation made by the State BJP on Dec 29, the SEC has directed the Collectors of each district to stop distributing Aina booklets at all the Public Distribution System stores as these booklets issued by the state Information and Public relations department contains information regarding popular schemes initiated by the State government.
