Nayagarh: April 23: Fire broke out on the southern and western sides of Rukhi hill forest again today. On Friday only, the fire could come under control after hours’ long exercise by fire brigades, Forest staffs and local volunteers.

Efforts are on by three teams of Forest Department, Fire brigade teams and volunteers. Reports said the fire broke out on the southern and western sides of the forest. Till reports last came in, efforts were on by three teams of the Forest department, along with the fire bridge team and local volunteers, to bring the fire under control.

Assistant Conservator of Forests said today, ‘We could bring the fire under control yesterday only, but again today some people set fire inside the forest near Muktapur village. We are trying our best to bring the fire under control.’

Sources said, there is no threat to the people of Nayagarh town, rather it is threat to the   mouse dear and wild boar, who used to stay in this zone’. But, ACP added, ‘Till now, we have not found a single carcass of any animal, they may be shifted to the other side of the forest for safety.’
