Bhubaneswar, March 17: Orissa High Court has directed the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora to close 104 Kalyan Mandaps in the Silver City.
These Kalyan Mandaps are functioning without licence.
As per an affidavit filed by DCP Arora last year it was revealed that as many as 113 of the 128 Kalyan Mandaps located in CMC area did not possess proper licenses.
This has been causing a huge revenue loss to the CMC.
Notably, the illegal Kalyan Mandaps had no provision for parking of vehicles and the approach roads were not suitable for parking purposes.
Besides, most of the mandaps were also not safe to hold marriage ceremonies or other functions.
