Prime Minister The Prime Minister, accompanied by BJP president J.P. Nadda, flew to Lucknow on Sunday and drove straight to the veteran leader’s residence in Mall Avenue where he paid floral tributes and spent about 25 minutes talking to family members of the late leader.
Kalyan Singh ji had a magical connect with masses. As Chief Minister of UP, he determinedly pursued clean politics and purged governance of criminals and corruption. He dignified the offices he held. His demise leaves a vacuum in public life. My heartfelt condolences, President Ram Nath Kovid said.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh (89) passed away on Saturday due to sepsis and multi-organ failure.
He was getting treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) from July 4.
He breathed his last at 9.15 pm on Saturday.
After his demise, his body was taken to his Mall Avenue residence.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Cabinet colleagues paid tributes to the departed soul.
A three-day state mourning has been announced in Uttar Pradesh and a holiday will be observed on Monday as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
