Sambalpur: The marriage of Lord Shiva and Devi Parbati was conducted with all the rituals on Sunday. The newly married Dev couple will go on a city tour from late night today.
More than 50 platoon forces have been deployed for security. Dev Dev Mahadev’s wedding party left from various parts of Sambalpur city late last night.
Lord Mahadev was seated on a palanquin dressed as a groom. The groom party danced to the tune of dance songs. Everyone from Dev Danav to Nar Kinnar joined the wedding party.
After reaching the bride’s house, the wedding was performed according to all the rituals and traditions. Mahadev tied the knot with Mother Parvati in the fourth watch of the night.
Today, after resting at his in-laws’ house, Lord Mahadev will take his wife for a city tour late at night. Lakhs of devotees will gather to have a glimpse of the newly married Dev couple. The main attraction of the winter festival will be the city parikrama of the couple.
Similarly, the wedding ceremony of the couple took place in Bhadrak district’s Aradi with great pomp. According to the complete Vedic rituals, the hand of Dev Dev Mahadev and Mata Parvati was tied with the recitation of mantras by Brahmins.
Thousands of devotees visited this secular wedding at night. From seven in the evening to one in the night, the ARD Peeth was adorned with a procession of the bride and groom.
The main attraction of the procession was the Aghori dance in Rajasthan. After the wedding, thousands of devotees visited the couple’s idol.
