Bhubaneswar, August 27: Cyclonic circulations in the Bay of Bengal has brought a ray of hope for the state starving for rain. It is reported that, severe rains and thunderstorm may hit across various place in Odisha within the next 24 hours.
Private metrological agency, Skymet who had reported the storm two days ago was confirmed by the IMD, earlier today. As per the report, a low pressure is being created in the northwestern Bay of Bengal. In the next 24 hours, severe rains might be seen across various place in Odisha. Thus adding to the shortage of the downpour, the state has faced this year.
Earlier, Skymet had reported that the rains this year has gone down by 60% below normal. In this regard, the low pressure at the end of the month has brought new hope. If light rains result from this low pressure effect, it will help fill the rainfall deficit.
Notably, August is considered an important month in terms of monsoon flow. Because it rains a lot this month. But August 2021 has turned into a dry August for the past few decades. It is expected to affect the annual rainfall as a whole.
