A team of Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW), led by its Chairperson Namita Behera, had visited deceased Mamita Meher’s home in Jharni village under Tureikela block of Bolangir. They discussed with the family members regarding the incident.
After meeting the family members, OSCW Chairperson Namita Behera said, ‘We met the family members. It is very sad to listen all the things from members of family. Commission is keeping an eye on the case. We shall see that, the accused shall get severe punishment’
As Mamita was the only earning member of the family, Mamita’s father asked Behera to provide a job to his son. Also, he demanded death penalty for the accused persons.
Mamita, the Principal of Sunshine English Medium School in Mahaling of Kalahandi district, had been missing since October 8. Family members alleged in Police Station that, Govind Sahu, President of Sunshine School management committee, is involved behind her missing.
Police detained Sahu, but he escaped from Police Custody. Later, Mamita’s body was exhumed from a field near School.
Also, Police nabbed Govinda Sahu on October 19 and further arrested. During the interrogation, he confessed to his crime.
