Bhubaneswar, Apr 20: A notice was send by the National Green Tribunal to Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and to Kalinga Institute of Medical Science for trespassing the forest area of the city without permission. The Green panel wants the chief secretary to give a proper explanation on this topic.
Subhas Mohapatra had filed a suit in the court against KIIT and KIMS for trespassing the forest area for Plot no. 516 in Patia Mouza under Bhubaneswar tehsil, 55 acres of forest land and should be indicted for breaking the rule of Forest Conservation Act of 1980. It is also cited that the record of the right of the land is under the name of state-run Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation and the same the land goes under the favor of IDCO but they haven`t taken necessary legal permission from the Center under Forest Conservation Act 1980.
The petitioners also says that the educational institutions are build without any kind of proper permission from the government. Last month the NGT asked the Odisha government to put a boundary on 18 acre forest area as the Kalinga Relief and Charitable Trust was found to trespass the land. Kalinga Institute of Social Science to be sued for trespassing the forest land at Pathargadia in Bhubaneswar as per the rule of Forest Conservation Act 1980.
