Cuttack, July 30: Two absconded servitors named, Ipsita Pratihari and Bhagirathi Khuntia among the eight who were arrested by the Puri police on the release of photographs of those accused servitors at the time of Niladri Bije on July 17 for misbehaving with the Collector and media, seeked for anticipatory bail.
Earlier, three more servitors named Damodar Mahasuara, Jayakrusna Mahasuara and Harinarayan Khuntia who were accused of behaving rudely with the Puri Collector and even having an FIR being lodged against them had seeked for anticipatory bail in the Orissa High Court. However, their petitions are yet to be heard.
All the miscreants are listed in the absconder’s list whose pictures were circulated by the police all around Puri. As of now, the police have taken into custody 12 servitors while 8 more are yet to be caught hold off which include Damodara Mahasuara and his brother Jayakrusna Mahasuara, who allegedly abused and manhandled Arvind Agarwal and the others being Saina Khuntia, Bhimsen Palankadhari, Ipsit Pratihari, Rabi Dash, Kashinath Khuntia and Bhagirathi Khuntia.
The move came after the district police secured non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against six servitors from the Puri SDJM court.
