Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Indramani Behera, Dhenkanal Municipality chairman lost a no-confidence vote today. The Congress brought the motion against him by alleging that he had not taken Councilors to confidence while taking decisions regarding various projects and also for his alleged involvement in several corruption charges.
According to sources, Behera lost the motion as it was backed by 17 councilors in the 23-member municipal council. The sources added that the BJD had asked its Councilors to stay away from the motion, but despite that, four BJD councilors cast their votes on the motion, while the Congress and the BJP had asked their respective councilors to vote in favor of the motion.
Behera was elected as Chairman of Dhenkanal Municipality through lottery in 2013.
