Bhubaneswar: June 17: Indian Coast Guard team rescued at least 12 fishermen, who had gone missing after a trawler carrying them sank in the Bay of Bengal on Friday. Sources said, one fisherman is still missing.

It is said, fishermen had been to the deep sea for fishing in a trawler on Thursday morning. It is said the trawler sank into the deep sea due to its engine malfunctioning. As they could not be contacted later, their family members became apprehensive of their whereabouts and informed at Talchua Marine police station.

Immediately, Police personnel and a team from the India Coast Guard launched a joint search operation and could rescue 12 fishermen and one among them is still missing.

The rescued fishermen are residents of the Talchua area under the Pattamundai block in the Kendrapara district. Sources said some of the rescued fishermen are undergoing treatment.
