Odisha seeks Rs.5227.68 crore from NDRF to meet the expenditure for relief and restoration work

Bhubaneswar: June 07:  Different departments of Government of Odisha have assessed the losses to the tune of Rs.6643.63 crore caused to public properties by severe cyclonic storm Fani and an amount of Rs.2,692.63 crore is required for relief measures for the affected people.

The total loss to public properties and funds required for relief measures has been estimated as Rs.9336 crore.

As per the disaster assistance norms, the state government has sought an assistance of Rs.5227.68 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to meet the expenditure for the relief and restoration work for the damages caused by extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani.

A final report has already been prepared by the SRC office, which will be sent to center soon, official source said.

State Government has earlier prepared a preliminary report estimating the total loss of Rs.11,942 crore, which was shared with the central team that visited Odisha from May 12 to May 15.

The State government has released Rs.1357.14 crore from state disaster disaster response fund (SDRF) to various affected districts towards relief and restoration works.
