Sonepur, Apr 12: From now on, Amazon India will be selling the state’s famous Sambalpuri sarees having the latest designs and unique patterns. Regarding the same, an MoU has been signed between the company and the weavers here thereby guaranteeing market access and source of income for them along with giving the six yard handwoven wonder a wide acclaim. Amazon is also training the weavers on ways to sell their sarees on their website.
Online sale of sarees and Amazon India’s such step to develop weavers not only can make Sambalpuri Sarees reach international but also will generate more and more employment for weavers, said sources. A weaver stated that they would also be able to check their products and sell them from their homes. On the other hand, Niraj Kumar Mehta, the Amzaon India representative stated that previously their products were sold just within Odisha and now they would be able to sell their products all across the nation and so for this a training session has also been organised to make the weavers understand how they can make themselves available on Amazon and how Amazon will help them.
