Paradip, March 10: Indian Oil’s Paradip Refinery organized a two day community awareness and mass contact programme from March 8 on latest technologies, safety & environment protection measures adopted for protection of people, environment, plant & equipment.
The initiative is also to ensure sustainable development in the area, said officials.
The programmes were conducted with the co-operation of Gram Panchyats in the nearby villages of Rangiagarh, Niharunimauja-Chandini, Kothi, Trilochanpur, Dhinkia, Mahala, Gobindpur, Dalimpur, Bagadia & Jhimani adjacent the Refinery.
Elaborate Safety measures like SOPs, SMPs, Safety Instrumentation & Control System, Process Safety management systems, Permit to Work Systems, procedure for normal /emergency start-up & shut-down for all its process units and offsite facilities, are in place.
For fire protection, the facility has been designed to mitigate two major fire emergencies simultaneously.
Paradip refinery has prepared Emergency Response and Disaster Management Plan (ERDMP) considering all On-site & Off-Site possible emergencies which has been approved by DMI Bhopal.
Paradip refinery has also established Mutual Aid fire fighting arrangement with neighbouring industries like PPL, IFFCO & PHBPL to take help during major emergencies. Elaborated consideration of Natural calamities like Earthquake & Cyclone has also been included in our ERDMP.
