Police detain two on charges of trafficking girls

Puri, March 31:  Puri Police Wednesday arrested two pimps at the Railway station here while they attempted to traffic young girls to other states and rescued as many as 28 girls from their clutches.

According to police sources, the girls were being taken on the pretext of providing employment to them by the brokers in other states.

The police acting on specific inputs confronted the pimps and the girls at the railway station and detained them as they failed to give any satisfactory explanation.

The girls belonged to the Brahmagiri area of Puri district and mostly from one village, the sources said.
