Whole Day Political Development in Punjab ended in the evening only after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh stepped down as Chief Minister of Punjab.
Amrinder Singh submitted his and his council of ministers resignation to Governor.
“CM @capt_amarinder has met Punjab Governor and submitted his and his council of ministers’ resignation,” the Chief Minister Media Advisor Raveen Thukral informed in a tweet.
The development began when Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat tweeted about the decision to hold an urgent CLP meeting on Saturday.
Just after that, State party chief Navjot Sidhu directed all the MLAs to be present at the CLP meeting.
But, before the CLP Meeting, Punjab CM resigned.
It is said, Amarinder Singh told to Congress President Sonia Gandhi during a meeting that, he is being humiliated and he will reign from the Party.
Also, CLP Meeting was called after a fresh letter signed by a majority of legislators who expressed dissatisfaction with Amarinder Singh and demanding his removal from the Chief Minister’s post.
Amarinder Singh said, he resigned as he felt humiliated.
He said, “I have given my resignation. The future politics option is always there and I will use that option,” the Chief Minister, who was active in the politics for 52 years’.
He further added, ‘ I am in Congress, will discuss with my colleagues and then decide the future course of action’.
