The 30-year-old woman, who was raped and assaulted with rod succumbed to her injuries at a civic hospital due to excessive bleeding.
The incident happened early on Friday Morning at Saki Naka. Police got a call from a citizen informing of a fight between a man & woman.
Police rushed to spot and found the woman lying on a tempo with severe injuries and bleeding profusely. They immediately took her to Rajawadi Hospital.
Also, Police could manage to nab the accused Mohan Chavan within hours of the incident.
The gruesome incident has sent shockwaves across the country. People are comparing this incident with 2012 Nirbhaya incident of Delhi.
It is said, Saki Naka woman was also sexually assaulted and tortured – an iron rod was inserted into her body.
