Bhubaneswar, Aug 23: Investigating in the matter of fake gazette notification scam of the suspended former assistant director of Factories and Boilers, Motilal Gouda, Vigilance officers on Tuesday carried out a search operation at seven places belonging to Himanshu Kar aka Happy, including his native at Kendrapara and six other places in Bhubaneswar. The Vigilance also raided the houses of Happy’s in-laws and two of his relatives at Jagamara area in Bhubaneswar.
After an allegation of disproportionate assets of Kar, the Vigilance officials conducted the raids to find out documents related to Happy’s moveable and immovable properties. The search operation would also help in further investigation, informed vigilance officials.
Happy had come to the lime light when he was identified in a photograph with Motilal Gouda. Suspicions have been made that he was a mediator link between Gouda and ministers and ruling party politicians.
During an interrogation, it was revealed that even though Happy was working as a grade-III employee at the Capital Hospital, he still had Rs.2.5 crore in his bank account. The sources behind this huge amount in his account and also the monetary transactions between Happy and Motilal, is being investigated by the Vigilance.
Also, with the help his wife’s fraud handicap certificate, Happy was able to get construction contracts worth crores of rupees in the name of her wife.
