Bhubaneswar, Nov 18: The Capital of Odisha received another milestone in its journey of emerging as a Smart City. It has acclaimed the 2nd runner-up position at the Barcelona Smart City Expo World Congress which had been conducted in Spain.
This rank was given according to the proposals submitted on various developmental projects in cities. The would-be smart city was competing in the innovative global south category. Chennai acquired the 4th position and Nairobi in Kenya emerged as the winner.
To this wonderful success to Bhubaneswar, it’s Municipality Corporation Mayor, Anant Narayan Jena said that this could be possible just because of the Chief Minster, Naveen Patnaik and the city’s citizens. Their efforts and guidance proved fruitful. Among the 250 projects featuring from 45 countries, only 6 countries made it to the final and it’s a moment of great pride that Bhubaneswar was among the six.
He further added that Bhubaneswar has now emerged as a world class city and very soon it will also start receiving adequate investments and tourist attention.
