Bhubaneswar, Dec 01: The winter session of Odisha Assembly began today.
As per the tradition, rich tributes were paid to Chandrasekhar Pradhan, Rabindra Kumar Das, Rajkishore Pradhan and Bidhubhushan Praharaj who died during the intersession period of the House.
Members observed a minute’s silence to pay their homage,
However, later, Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra requested the Speaker to cancel the question hour and allow the House to discuss the farmers’ suicide issue across the State.
But Speaker Niranjan Pujari refused to oblige and adjourned the House till 3 pm.
On the other hand, BJP has moved adjournment motion on irregularities in distribution of ration card under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Finance minister Pradeep Amat is scheduled to present the supplementary budget later in the day.
Elaborate security arrangement have been made in the Assembly complex with a total of 25 platoons of security personnel deployed.
