BJP has relieved Bengal BJP Chief Dilip Ghosh and has appointed Balurghar MP Sukanta Majumdar in Dilip Ghosh’s place. This may be due to Bharatiya Janata Party’s defeat in the 2021 Bengal Assembly election.
Last few months did not go well for Bengal BJP as many leaders came back to TMC who have left TMC earlier & joined BJP. Recently, former Union minister of state and MP Babul Supriyo also left the BJP and joined TMC. It is assumed that, Babul Supriyo left the party, because his ministerial berth was taken away in a Cabinet reshuffle.
Also, the Party State Unit was suffering from infighting and factionalism ever since the party lost the bitterly-contested polls.
All these things prompted the BJP leadership for change of State Unit Chief. Dilip Ghosh has been made national vice president of BJP. Mukul Roy was in that post earlier.
But, it is interesting to observe that, the State Unit Chief change got changed just before Bhabanipur by-poll. Mamata Banerjee is contesting from that seat as she had lost from Nandigram to BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari.
The new State Head Sukanta Majumdar is also a long-time RSS man. Also, he is well-educated and a professor by profession.
