'Western bloc gets united unfortunately', Ramiz Raja said as ECB cancelled tour to Pakistan

September 21

Ramiz Raja, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, expressed his anger and frustration after England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) cancelled the men’s and women’s teams tour to Pakistan in October.

New Zealand too had called of their white-ball tour of Pakistan recently hours before the start of the opening match in Rawalpindi citing security threats.

Western bloc gets united unfortunately: Ramiz Raja Said

In a video message released by the PCB on Tuesday, Ramiz Raja said, “I am severely disappointed in England’s withdrawal but it was expected because this western bloc gets united unfortunately and tries to back each other’.

“Disappointed with England, pulling out of their commitment & failing a member of their Cricket fraternity when it needed it most. Survive we will inshallah. A wake up call for Pak team to become the best team in the world for teams to line up to play them without making excuses,” read his tweet.

Expressing its frustration Washim Akram also said, ‘It’s better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life. Unfortunately we live in a world where terror threats haunt sports and entertainment in every single country. But I would much rather play cricket in a country that is prepared for anything than one that isn’t’.

On 19th, Washim tweeted:

He further added: I think the world underestimates how powerful our security forces are. Cricket is more than a sport to us and we will do everything in our power to prevent cricket being taken from us again. The world needs to give us a chance to prove that!

Pakistan, skipper Babar Azam expressed his anguish. “Disappointed, yet again. We have always tried to accommodate the interests of the game but others simply don’t. We have come a long way in our cricketing journey and it will only get better with time. We will not only survive but thrive as well. Inshaa’Allah,” said Babar in his tweet.
