Surgery on ailing cobra conducted by OUAT successful

Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: A successful surgery to remove two fishing nails from the stomach of a cobra was conducted by an expert team of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Tuesday.

As per the information, the operation was conducted at the varsity campus. It took one hour to complete the surgery.  After the team ascertained the position of fishing nails inside the snake’s stomach through X-Ray, they proceeded for surgery after giving anesthesia.

Besides difficulties, the team successfully removed the fishing nails from the stomach of the snake, informed professor of surgery, Indramani Nath.

The condition of the snake is reported to better and after the snake gets cured properly, it will be released.

Notably, the snake had eaten two frogs attached with fishing nails which was a trap laid by a house owner in Boudh to catch the snake.
