New Delhi: May 03: Transport Vehicles with seating capacity of more than 23 will have to install GPS or any other vehicle tracking device, alert button and CCTV cameras. Vehicles having less than 23 seats must have to install vehicle tracking device and emergency botton.

The road transport ministry on Monday issued draft notification on this and said, ” The Manufacturer or the dealer or the respective operators will have to take care to install the tracking device, alert button and CCTV surveillance system devices.’

It is to be noted, UPA had approved the first project under the Nirbhaya fund for installation of panic buttons, CCTV cameras and GPS devices in public transport vehicles in 32 cities in January 2014.
