Bhubaneswar: August 14:Unmukt Chand, who led India to glory at the Under-19 World Cup in 2012, has announced his retirement from all forms of Cricket on Friday.

He signed  a multi-year contract with Silicon Valley Strikers for the 2021 season of the Minor League Cricket (MLC) in USA.

28-year old Unmukt Chand announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India on Friday. He has posted regarding this in his Social Media accounts and said, ‘ready to take the leap of faith and enter into a new territory and contribute my best’.

Chand will now make his MLC debut for the Strikers against the Socal Lashings at the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Complex in a Minor League Cricket Championship match on Saturday.

The Minor League Cricket Championship is a national T20 cricket competition for 27 city-based teams from all over USA.

More than 200 games will take place at 26 venues, featuring more than 400 players.

Unmukt Chand captained India Under-19 to victory in the 2012 World Cup defeating hosts Australia. He had scored unbeaten 111 that match. It was his third consecutive century in a final for the under-19 side.

Chand had made his Ranji debut when he was in School and scored 151 runs in his fourth game.

He made his IPL debut at 18 years and 15 days. Also, Chand was in India-A side and the team won against New Zealand A in 2013 and Bangladesh A in 2015.
