Vigilance nabs three officials for graft

Cuttack, March 30: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested three officials including an executive engineer of the rural works department landed for graft and possessing assets disproportionate to their know sources of income.
According to vigilance sources, the house and office of Executive Engineer of Rural Works Department Subodh Routray were raided by department slueuths.
The sources said that Routray’s houses in Niladri Vihar in Bhubaneswar and Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack, his office and his in-laws’ house were raided and gold ornaments and bank passbooks seized.
Moreover, a flat in Bengaluru in his son’s name has been identified and some luxury vehicles have also been seized, said sources.
Simultaneus raids were conducted by the Vigilane department in nine separate places.
In other raids, Vigilance sleuths arrested Digapahandai Sub Jailor Bibhuti Bhusan Patnaik while he was taking a bribe of Rs 10, 000 and the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Dhangidisola panchayats under Saraskana block in Keonjhar district Ekadashi Pradhan.
According to sources, the anti corruption wing nabbed Patnaik while he was taking the bribe from a contractor promising him to provide the contract of food supply to the jail.
Besides, it is also alleged that Patnaik was also taking bribe from the contractor to clear all his arrears, the sources added.
Pradhan was nabbed while taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a person to sanction Indira Awas aid, the sources said.
The probe agency also raided his house, office and block office, the sources added.
