Bhubaneswar: August 12: Webinar on Odisha Corporate Foundation has organised a Webinar on ‘Growth Opportunities in Agri Sector’, which was addressed by speakers like Debananda Bhanja, Additional Director fisheries, Government of Odisha; Dr Jitendra Sundaram,  Head of Department ,Fish Genetics and Biotechnology, ICAR – CIFA , Bhubaneswar;  Aditya Dash,   Managing Director , Surya Udyog Ltd and  Akshay kumar Sahoo,  Kailash fisheries and aquatics.

Debananda Bhanja in his address spoke about various projects related to fish and marine productions, fish farming, processing and value added products.

He gave a presentation on various govt schemes for the development of fish sectors farming and allied opportunities .Pradhan mantri matsya yojna and mukhya mantri Matsya yojna were the main highlight of his speech.

He also discussed about the various slabs of subsidies given by government for fishery related business. Mr.Bhanja also highlighted certain issues like, how Odisha has been depending on West Bengal for fish seeds which Government aims to minimise in coming years.

Dr. Jitendra Sundar Ray, the subject expert highlighted the scientific developments related to fish farming so far. He also raised concern about the health of the farmer during this pandemic and minimum hygiene that should be maintained by the fish farmers working in the field.

Aditya Dash spoke about the financial health for fish farmers. He stressed the need for addressing the financial help to fish farmers for making the government schemes more bankable for its self sustainability.

Akshay kumar Sahoo who discussed about the fish seeds development in Odisha. He highlighted on the high demand of fish seeds and a need to set up several fish feed industry in Odisha.

The Question-answer session of the Webinar was participated by hundreds of people from various parts of the Country.

The webinar was moderated by Jajati Keshari Biswal, Additional fisheries officer (Retd) and Premananda Biswal ,ED Sampark Trust.
