Taliban came to power and formed the Ministry. But, infighting is on between two factions of Taliban. Two factions-one led by Haqqanis and the other by Mullah Baradar have been fighting over power sharing.
Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhunzada is missing
Sources discussed, one man who is missing from the scene is supreme leader Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada. Speculations are rife over his fate and there are even rumors of his death.
Talibaan Co-founder Mullah Baradar had expected to be head of the Government, but he was given the role of Deputy. Also, he was interested for more roles for Afghanistan’s many ethnic minorities in the government, that also did not happened, sources said. Baradar urged that, the green, red and black Afghan national flag should still be flown alongside the white Taliban flag.
So, Baradar is not happy with the administration.
Writing for The Spectator, David Loyn said, “Tempers flared in a meeting in Presidential Palace in Kabul and spilled over into a fight between Baradar’s supporters and those of Khalil Haqqani. Some accounts said there was gunfire, although this has not been verified’.In between, Baradar disappeared for some days. Also, there are discussions that, Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhunzada is dead. In fact, he has also not been seen or heard for some time.
Several accounts have come up regarding the infighting between Mullah Baradar, the recently appointed deputy prime minister and Khalil ul Rahman Haqqani, a leader of the Taliban’s brutal Haqqani Network faction.
Pakistan is now taking a key role in infighting. It supporting the Haqqani network and has so far been successful in ensuring key posts for its favourites in new Taliban government.
A report in a UK magazine ‘The Spectator’ has revealed how Pakistan is pushing for the marginalisation of Baradar camp, even suggesting that Mullah Baradar was held hostage by the hardliners.
