Kendrapara, Mar 27: In a shocking incident, a dalit woman burned to death in the evening hours of Saturday, while she was lighting a lamp. The incident took place at Harijan sahi of Kendrapada, when the woman, identified as Suchitra Mallick was offering her evening prayer.
Notably, as said, the room caught fire from the Puja lamp she lit for the rituals. And in moments the fire spreaded and the mud walls of the room were gutted.
As of reports, no one else was in the house, at the moment. After the locals saw the blaze, they tried to rescue her, but until they rescued her, she had already passed away, said sources.
After informing, the police reached the spot and sent her body for the post mortem. During prelim investigation it is stated that her death was caused of an accidental fire, but however, further investigation is on, added sources.
