New Delhi, Dec 17: The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) in March this year which is a reward based, demand driven scheme.
The scheme aims to enable and mobilise a large number of Indian youth to take up skill training, become employable and earn their livelihood, he said.
It has been targeted to benefit 24 lakh persons with training of 14 lakh fresh entrants and certification of 10 lakh persons under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), he added.
The total outlay of PMKVY is Rs.1500 crore. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is the implementing agency for PMKVY.
As on November 30 this year as many as 5.32 lakh candidates have been enrolled under the scheme for 328 job roles developed by 28 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) across the Country, the minister told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday in a written reply.
The Minister said, Agriculture Sector Skill Council (ASSC) has been set up to promote capacity building in agriculture industry and bridge the gap between laboratories and farms adding that the ASSC has been mandated for skill development, upgradation of cultivators, agricultural labourers in organized and unorganized agricultural industry.
As on November 30 33,943 people have been enrolled for training through 559 skill training centres across the Country under 34 job rolls developed by ASSC, Rudy said.
