Taliban spoke person warns US to exit Afghan soil by Aug 31

 

Kabul, August 24: The process of evacuating Indians from Kabul continues amid Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Earlier today, the Air India flight AI-1956 carrying 78 people landed in Delhi from Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan. Of these, 25 are Indians. The aircraft also carried the three Guru Granth Sahibs rescued from the Gurdwaras of Kabul. With a loud nagar-kirtan, these Guru Granth Sahib were escorted on a special Palki sahib to a Gurdwara in Delhi. Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri, RP Singh along with other union leaders, who had arrived at the airport earlier today to receive the passengers, escorted the Guru Granth Sahibs safely to a Gurdwara in Delhi.

 

Conspiracy To Kill Former Afghan Prez, Claims Brother Hashmat

In another development, Hashmat Ghani, the estranged brother of former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, has allegedly claimed that there was a conspiracy to kill Ashraf Ghani. Hashmat, who was in the news for quite sometime for joining the Taliban, said, “heavy bloodshed was planned in Kabul, so that some retired men could fulfil their intentions. They had also hatched a conspiracy to kill me.” Hashmat has made this claim in a conversation with the English news channel WION.

However, asking who wanted to kill Ashraf, he said that when the time comes, this disclosure will be made by Ashraf Ghani himself. Hashmat has refused to all the reports of himself joining the Taliban or surrendering to them, and has said it to be false. He also said that he may have accepted the Taliban rule, but is nowhere involved in their matter neither has he surrendered to them.

  • British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called an emergency meeting of the G-7 today. It is believed that he may ask US President Joe Biden to retain his army in Afghanistan even after August 31, so that there is more time to evacuate people from Kabul airport.
  • The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) will hold a special session in Geneva today to discuss the situation in Afghanistan. 29 of the 47 member states of the UNHRC have supported this special session.
  • The US on Monday has rescued/evacuated nearly 11,000 people from Kabul. Since August 14, the US military have airlifted over 48,000 people. The US has also said that about 53,000 people have been relocated since the end of July.
Taliban Threatens America – leave Afghanistan by August 31

In the meanwhile, when countries around the world including India, US, UK are engaged in evacuating their citizens and rescuing desperate Afghans, seeking to leave their country, from Afghanistan, Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen who threatened the NATO force with his statement has asked them to leave Kabul airport and return back to their countries by August 31.

Shaheen, emphasizing on the the date August 31 as the dead line said, “US President Joe Biden had said that his army would leave Afghanistan by this date. If the US extends this date and keep its control over Afghan airport, then America has to face serious consequences’.

France, who responded to this Taliban threat, has directly challenged the Taliban and has said, “even after August 31, we will continue to rescue and evacuate people from Kabul.
