Berhampur, March 14: Berhampur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court has allowed police to take former Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena on a fresh seven day’s remand.

The police Sunday morning produced Jena in the court after his five-day remand came to an end and prayed for an extension of the remand.

The police said in their prayer that further interrogation was necessary to unearth his involvement in various crimes and financial irregularities.

Meanwhile, local police seized four vehicles belonging to his family and aides.  The vehicles include two Mahindra Scorpios, a Toyota Innova and a Volkswagen Jetta, said a police official.

They also have found out that the bullet proof Lexus seized on Friday has not been registered so far.

Notably, two new cases including an attempt to murder and a murder case were lodged against Jena in two different police stations of Ganjam on Saturday.
