Puri, March 18: The Govardhan Peeth at Puri has demanded the arrest of what it alleged the ‘fake Shankaracharya Adhokshjanand Devitirtha.
At a press conference the Peeth spokesman demanded that the fake baba should not be allowed in the Holy City.
Notably, the claims of Adhokshjanand were earlier rejected by the Orissa High Court as well as the State Government.
Swami Nischalananda Saraswati of Goverdhan Peetha in Puri is the recognised Jagadguru Shankaracharya of the Peeth.
Adhokshjanand had campaigned against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Uttar Pradesh during the last Lok Sabha election supported by some rival political parties.
The spokesman said the sadhu is a fake and has brought disgrace to the honour and dignity of the Puri Peeth.
